October 8, 1951-August 28, 1994


Though he had no amateur skating career to speak of, New York born Daniel Sexton's few skating lessons parlayed into a lengthy career as a chorus skater with Holiday on Ice. His life outside of skating nothing short of remarkable. He founded programs to assist abused children and those in recovery. He played university football, wrote two books, modelled and acted on television. He passed away on August 28, 1994 at the age of forty-two.


Daniel's obituary from "The Los Angeles Times": "Daniel A. Sexton, 42, founder of Childhelp USA National Hotline to aid abused children. Sexton became a national spokesman for programs to prevent child and drug abuse. He co-authored two books, 'Healing the Wounds of Childhood' and 'The Survivor's Guide', a self-help manual for recovering drug abusers. He was director of Childhelp USA from 1983 to 1992 and co-founder of Survivors of Abuse in Recovery (SOAR). Born in Buffalo, N.Y., Sexton grew up in San Diego, went to the University of Santa Clara on a football scholarship and earned degrees from Cal State Northridge and La Jolla University. He was a member of the touring Holiday on Ice troupe for many years and was a model and actor in such television series as 'Police Story'. On Sunday in North Hollywood of AIDS."
