 Christian Hendricks

June 2, 1971-March 28, 2021

Christian Hendricks got his start in figure skating at the West Covina Figure Skating Club. He won medals in intermediate men's events at 1983 Southwest Pacific Championships and 1984 Pacific Coast Championships before going on to a show skating career. Diagnosed HIV-positive in 1993, Hendricks got very sick in 2009 and was confined to a wheelchair for a time. He made a courageous comeback to skating in 2015, competing at the World Figure and Fancy Skating Championships and Festival three times. He passed away at the age of forty-nine on March 28, 2021 in Redondo Beach, California.

Words of wisdom from Christian in 2018: "I am living proof that nothing, and I mean nothing is impossible. If you believe and work hard in what you’re doing you can achieve anything. Fight Hard people. You deserve it. Regardless of your illness or ailments and regardless of what doctors tell you if it's something that you truly want to do, then do it!"
