Historical Results From The Norwegian Figure Skating Championships

Norway might not be the first country that springs to mind when you think of figure skating today. However, the sport wouldn't be what it is today without some of the pioneering skaters the country played home to. Axel Paulsen was the inventor of the Axel jump and Sonja Henie won an incredible three Olympic gold medals and ten World Championships. Sonja's films and touring ice revues played a direct role in introducing young people from all around the world to the sport.

In an effort to highlight the history and accomplishments of the country's skaters, I've done some major digging and pieced together historical results from the Norwegian Championships dating back to the sport's early beginnings, when the country's speed and figure competitions were combined as one. Results until the late 1990's come from research in the digital collections of the Nasjonalbiblioteket and more recent results were published online by the Norges Skøyteforbund.
